Everyone loves a summer blockbuster, but sometimes it is the sleeper films that make the best movie going.  The Wes Anderson movie, “Moonrise Kingdom” is just that film.  It boasts an all-star cast, Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, and Bill Murray in addition to the charming new faces of Kara Hayward as Suzy and Jared Glorian as Sam.  While we feel in love with the childhood summer romance between Suzy and Sam, we were mesmerized by the All-American retro fashions in the movie.

Suzy, everything we wish our adolescent-selves were, an impeccably dressed red head who traipses through the wilderness with perfect eye makeup.  Her mod dresses with the  little white collars perfect.   Her knee-high socks are perfectly paired with her “Sunday School Shoes.”

The boys in the movie aren’t half bad either.  We would all be better off if there were more males walking around in white t-shirts and raw denim.  And while a man in uniform may be dashing, the Boy Scout uniforms stole the show, so much so that you might have to go to the local Salvation Army and snag your own.

Head out to the movie theater and go see “Moonrise Kingdom” this summer, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself craving blue eye shadow and retro style.
